Anna Patton, Ireland
Anna grew up in Northern Ireland and then lived in Bristol, Dublin, London and Berlin, before moving to Brussels, where she writes about EU policy issues for a communications company. She has been a contributing journalist to Café Babel since 2007 and has written about development and social issues for international NGOs.
Antonella Andriuolo, Italy
Since she was 18, Antonella has worked for television, radio and different newspapers. She has been a reporter for a local TV station in Rome. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Italian Literature and now she’s attending the Journalism School at Lumsa University. Antonella is a contributing journalist for many theatre and art websites; she also wrote the introduction for the first exhibition of Italian andTurkish artists in Kadiköy. Moreover, Antonella has written articles for specialised magazines. She is currently a radio presenter, hosting a national show for students and young people.
Bram Peeters, The Netherlands
Bram is a freelance journalist living in Utrecht. He holds a Master’s degree in European Journalism of the School of Journalism in the same city. His specialisation is International Affairs. In 2010, he made a long travel around Turkey as a reporter. His articles have been published in the Belgian news magazine Knack, the Spanish daily El Mundo, the Danish newspaper Berlinske as well as many Dutch newspapers and magazines.
Clara Bergström, Sweden
Clara started working at a local newspaper when she was 16. She has been working as a freelance journalist and has also studied Journalism, Creative Writing and Culture studies. After the publication of the EYJA-winning article about the Turkish musicians “Kim Ki O” in May 2008, she returned to Istanbul for four months to study Turkish. At present she is studying Ethnology at Masters’ level at Stockholm University.
Débora Miranda, Portugal
Débora has studied Communication Sciences in Lisbon and Leipzig. She has profesisonal experience in radio and print journalism, as well as a translator. Since January 2008 she has worked in the Portuguese newsroom of the international broadcaster Deutsche Welle Radio in Bonn, Germany. She has also worked as a trainee for DG Communication at the European Commission in Brussels.
Isabel Benítez, Spain
Isabel studied Journalism in Seville and started her professional training in the radio sector. She works at a radio station called “Onda Local de Andalucía”. Her professional experience is deeply connected to social communication, human rights, environment, culture, patrimony and youth. She believes journalism teaches you to work as a team and allows you to continue accquiring valuable knowledge everyday.
Janne Toivonen, Finland
Janne is a professional journalist, currently working for the leading daily newspaper Helsingin Sanomat. Previously he has been employed by the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE and the daily newspaper of his home town Pori, Satakunnan Kansam where his winning articles has also been published. Janne holds a Master of Social Sciences and a Master of Arts in European Studies.
Kathrin Breer, Germany
Kathrin is currently graduating in communications. She specialises in Psychology and French and has spent one semester as an Erasmus student in Lyon, France. There she also gained experience in European journalism at the multilingual TV channel Euronews. Her main research-interest lies in the field of media studies and new trends in journalism. She contributes as a freelance journalist to German online media and magazines, like Zeit Online and Focus Online.
Milena Stošić, Serbia
Milena is psychologist. She writes for International youth web magazine WAVE and also coordinates project for young media makers in Serbia. She use to write monthly e-bulletin related to enlargement topics for CSO European houses. She has attended numerous training courses and seminars related to psychology and civil society. Nadya Ivanova, Bulgaria
Nadya is a reporter and producer at Circle of Blue, an international news and science organization that reports on the global freshwater crisis. Since 2006, she has been travelling back and forth between her native Bulgaria and Chicago, where she is studying journalism and International Studies at Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University. Before joining Circle of Blue, Nadya interned at bTV, the major national TV channel of Bulgaria.
Sara Maria Glanowski, Denmark
Copenhagen-born freelance journalist, Sara works for the Danish daily newspaper Politiken since 2009. She graduated from the Department of Journalism at the Southern University of Copenhagen in 2009, before which she conducted an internship at Politiken. She gained additional experience as a journalist and hostess at the publicity owned national broadcast network TV2, in 2005 and at DR, the Danish Boradcast Cooperation.
Slavomíra Gašperová, Slovakia
Slavomíra studies journalism at the University of Constantine the Philosopher, in Nitra. She also works as a PR manager for her university magazine Občas nečas and sometimes works as a volunteer in various organisations and projects. Her main passion is skiing, she also likes winter sports, communication with people and reading books. She speaks Slovak, English and German.
Thimi Samarxhiu, Albania
Born on 15 May 1988 in Tirana, Thimi is currently studying Communication and Journalism at the UFO University in Tirana. Actually he is working at the daily newspaper “STANDARD”. Also he has been a reporter for Libertas Journal from January 2009-December 2009 and before he worked as a presenter for Radio Stinet and as a journalist for UFO Education TV. Thimi speaks Albanian, English and Italian.
Tomas Lindner, Czech Republic
Born in 14 September 1981, Tomas studied Politics at Charles University in Prague and went on to briefly volunteer on projects in Zambia. Since 2008 he has been working as an Editor in “Respekt” weekly, where he leads the international department. He is the author of a book of reportages froun South Africa.
Zsuzsa Szabó, Hungary
Zsuzsa is a radio presenter for Sirius Radio, a commercial radio station. She started out in journalism by working at a small community radio station, where she developed a strong love for both radio and journalism. Since then, Zsuzsa has been studying economics and media science at the University of Szeged and she has a particular interest in how NGO’s and media can help each other. She is also a fan of international youth exchanges and alternative theatre.
